In this experience, you’ll learn directly from a certified traditional craftsman and create a one-of-a-kind bamboo craft for yourself. You can make a beautiful bamboo piece that can be used in your living room or dining table for years. The time spent quietly working with natural bamboo is an irreplaceable moment. The venue, Hanayamomo Hall & Gallery, is a cultural property building constructed over 100 years ago. You can take a guided tour to observe the beauty of Meiji Era architecture and the lifestyle culture of living with bamboo.

Miso Making with Nature

{“Jigoku-mushi” Hell-Steamed Soybean Miso Making Experience}
In Beppu’s Kannawa Onsen, where steam rises all over town, this is a miso-making experience using soybeans steamed for 6 hours in “jigoku-mushi” utilizing 100°C natural steam.
The soybeans, infused with the mineral-rich flavors of Kannawa Onsen, are exceptionally delicious, resulting in a low-sodium miso that’s still full of soybean umami.
The koji is handmade at Abe Saburo Shoten in Hiji Town, using rice and wheat sourced from Oita. This unique flavor can only be experienced here.
